Eskenazi architecture faculty are collaborating on a monument in Marion, Ind. to "honor an expanding, more diverse group of Americans," as The New York Times notes in a review of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, where the architects chart the process of creating the monument. The project's co-creators are faculty Daniel Martinez and Lulu Loquidis, of LAA Office.

"Growing a Garden of Strange Fruit" charts the process of creating a site of contemplation, healing, and memory at the site of an atrocity in Marion, Indiana in 1930.
New perspectives: architecture student examines "middle housing" options for Columbus
In his second year in the Eskenazi School's Miller M. Arch program, Will Ziegert is examining the missing middle of Columbus' housing market and proposing ways to add it back. In the spring, the city will host a public design charrette to invite discussion around Ziegert's recommendation for "a happy medium of denser-style living."

Arch program are among the community partners who will help showcase Exhibit Columbus' downtown exhibition "Public by Design" Saturday, September 30 during Next Generation Day. Silvia Acosta named McRobbie Professor in Architecture
Silvia Acosta has been named the inaugural McRobbie Bicentennial Professor in Modern Architecture at the Eskenazi School, endowed by a gift of $500,000 from IU Chancellor and past President Michael McRobbie and First Lady Laurie Burns McRobbie. Acosta’s approach to architectural practice is deeply collaborative and community based.
Makerspace makeover: Propeller improvements take shape at airport
Assistant Professor of Architecture Daniel Martinez is leading exterior improvements at Columbus Propeller, including a street mural, wayfinding elements, a viewing platform for watching planes, greenery, signage, seating, and more. In addition to enhancing the venue's curb appeal, the mural will also offer something to look for when taking off or landing at the adjacent airport.

Students in the Eskenazi School Miller M.Arch program have spent the semester conducting research, meeting with stakeholders, and coming up with concepts for the ABC-Stewart Montessori School facility in Columbus.
M. Arch student sculptures installed at Salem's Lake Salinda
Salem Mayor Justin Green unveiled two site-specific sculptures on the Lake Salinda waterfront Tuesday, April 11. Designed by students in the Eskenazi School's Miller M. Arch program and drawing upon the area's cultural heritage, the sculptures were designed to activate the recreational area and foster economic development.
Mies Building named one of 2023 top ten steel projects
The Eskenazi School's Mies van der Rohe-designed building was named among ten building projects nationwide to win the 2023 Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel Awards, hosted by the American Institute of Steel Construction.
