International distinction
Assistant Professor of Architecture Leticia Pardo has received the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte grant, widely considered Mexico's most significant artist award, to support her research into the ways a sense of belonging manifests in neighborhoods shaped by the Mexican diaspora.

Building a bus shelter, and community
Serving the Columbus community and entering into the city's design tradition, M. Arch students in Senior Lecturer Lucas Brown's Design-Build Studio engaged with residents and partnered with industry and local government to produce the NexusPark bus shelter.

Exhibit Columbus 2025 includes a high school team that partnered with IU Miller Architecture Program students and faculty Spencer Steenblik to build an installation at the program's home in The Republic Building.

A major milestone
In May 2024, IU's J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program in the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design was recognized with accreditation by the National Architectural Accrediting Board, making the program one of only three NAAB-accredited architecture degrees in the state.

A Matter of the Invisible
A site-specific installation by architecture faculty member Leticia Pardo at the National Building Arts Center outside of St. Louis was noted in the art publication Hyperallergic as one of "six art spaces to visit in St. Louis." The exhibition is on view through November 21.

Architectural origin story
Columbus, Ind.'s reputation among architects took off in the 1950s, when its largest employer, engine manufacturer Cummins, began covering architecture fees for new modernist public schools. A new book showcases the modernist mecca, home to the Miller M. Arch program.

M. Arch student installations provided dynamic photo backdrops for Su Casa's Diversity Gala at the Columbus Commons on Nov. 15, at which the Miller program was honored with the 2024 Volunteer of the Year award. Su Casa supports Columbus' Latino community.

At the J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program, studio art isn't an elective, it's a core part of our hands-on philosophy.
With our NAAB-accredited degree, you'll develop a refined artistic practice that informs your architectural work and unlocks an array of different career opportunities.

Study masterworks by walking to them. Columbus, Indiana is home to over 70 modernist landmarks by Saarinen, Pei, Meier, and Berke, among others. The Miller program turns this historic city into your classroom.
Design for real community needs. See how design changes lives by creating projects that address actual challenges for Columbus residents and organizations.
Create projects that don't stay on paper. From public artworks to civic infrastructure, your student work becomes part of Columbus' ongoing design story.

The streets become your classroom through comparative study of international cities, where you'll travel to conduct independent research across a series of dense and culturally rich environments.
This studio focuses on the connections between urban form, architecture, and art, with an emphasis on self-discovery and engagement of global issues. You will partner with leading artists and designers across the globe to immerse yourself in their unique cultures.
