In honor of International Women's Day, members of the National Organization of Minority Architects Student Chapter at Indiana University welcomes landscape architect Lucila Silva-Santisteban for a virtual presentation with free lunch for J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program students. Silva-Santisteban will discuss her contributions as a landscape architect based in New York City over the past ten years to national and international projects as a key part of multi-disciplinary design teams focused on improving the public realm. She will also discuss the importance of her equity-centered approach and the role of landscape architecture in connecting and healing urban environments for a more environmentally resilient future.
NOMAS: The National Organization of Minority Architects was founded in 1971 and is a professional organization for individuals practicing architecture and allied design professions interested in advancing justice and equity through their creative practice. There are over one hundered student chapters of the orgzanization nationwide. Currently, there are seven registered student members of NOMAS at IU’s J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program. Carolina Zapata Bustamante (M. Arch Class of 2026) serves as the group's president and Ruviendel Isenia (M. Arch Class of 2026) serves as vice president.
